A simple skincare routine for women over 50

After fifty, many women notice their skin feels drier, a little less bouncy and quicker to show lines. The good news is that caring for it well is mostly about doing a few simple things every day.

1. Cleanse gently

Choose a mild, non-stripping cleanser. Skin that feels tight after washing has lost more moisture than it needs to. Lukewarm water is kinder than hot.

2. Apply a serum to clean, dry skin

This is where a targeted step fits. A peptide serum with hyaluronic acid, such as the Vellumia Signature Facial Serum, adds hydration and peptides chosen to help skin look smoother. Two or three drops over face and neck is enough.

3. Moisturise

A moisturiser seals in hydration and keeps skin comfortable through the day or night. Richer textures often feel better as skin becomes drier.

4. Protect with SPF every morning

Daily sun protection is the single most effective step for the long-term look of your skin, all year round in the UK too.

5. Be consistent, and be kind

Skin changes slowly. Give any new routine a few weeks before judging it, introduce one new product at a time, and enjoy the few quiet minutes it gives you each day.

If you have a skin condition, or notice changes that worry you, talk to your pharmacist or GP.
